SAINT THERAPON

The church of Saint Therapon, in the centre of the village, began to be built in 1816 and was completed in 1880, while it was inaugurated in 1910. According to tradition, the Saint himself indicated the spot where the church was to be built, upon seeing an oil lamp lit there. In the interior the wood-carved iconostasis dominates, one of the three works of the sculptor Giavopoulos in Cyprus. The memory of the Saint is honoured on 14 October and 27 May, and many faithful come to venerate the portion of the holy relics that is kept in the church.
