SAINT JAMES
This extremely elegant chapel of small dimensions is located in the central square of occupied Trikomo and is the patron and protector Saint of the community. It is a single-aisled church with a dome, which is sturdily built of carefully worked limestone blocks and bears distinctive pointed arches. Although the ancient wall paintings of the church were almost completely destroyed in the past, during the period of Ottoman rule the interior walls had been decorated with a rare collection of porcelain plates. Owing to the Turkish occupation since 1974, this historic monument remains violently inaccessible to the displaced residents, constituting a timeless symbol of their longing for return.
