SAINT JOHN

This small and plain religious refuge is found built in the countryside, approximately 2 to 3 kilometres outside the residential zone of Anogyra. According to local tradition and various historical sources, the little church is dedicated to Saint John the Theologian. The church remains closed for most of the year and opens officially for the faithful every Wednesday of Bright Week (Wednesday of the Resurrection), when the festal divine liturgy is celebrated there. Owing to its isolated rural location and its very limited interior dimensions, the site is not used for the celebration of weddings or baptisms
