SAINT ONOUPHRIOS

This picturesque chapel is located in the community of Kathikas in Paphos and plays a central role in the religious customs of the area. Every Good Friday it is the starting point for the traditional re-enactment of the carrying of the Holy Cross towards the central church of the village. It is a plain, stone-built church that harmonises with the vernacular architecture of Laona. The site functions as an important pilgrimage for the community, which honours the memory of Saint Onouphrios with a festival on 12 June.
