UNKNOWN CHURCH (RUINS)

In the plain of the occupied community of Elia in the Nicosia district are found the remains of an old church, which is believed to have been dedicated to Saint Mamas or Saint George. The building has suffered violent and total destruction with the passage of time, as well as complete stripping of every interior religious relic. Today mainly the levelled stone walls and the foundations of this post-Byzantine structure are discernible within the fields. The monument remains a ruined and mute witness of the long ecclesiastical presence in the area of Solea.
