UNKNOWN CHURCH (RUINS)

In the occupied small town of Lefka the historic church of Saint George survives, which was completed at the beginning of the twentieth century. The building is a three-aisled basilica, which after the events of 1974 was completely abandoned and suffered extensive plundering and destruction in its interior. Today the monument remains in ruins, stripped of its iconostasis and its holy relics, serving as a mute witness of the Greek Cypriot religious heritage in the area.
