ARCHANGEL MICHAEL

This very beautiful Chapel is located in the historic centre of the village of Akaki, set between the mosque and the church of Panagia Chryseleousa. Its present structure is a modern building, as the complete rebuilding and restoration of the original, old church was judged economically unviable. Its interior is fully decorated with impressive, modern wall paintings that depict saints and religious scenes, such as the Ascension of the Lord. Owing to its limited size, it functions mainly as a daily retreat for individual prayer and the lighting of candles by locals and foreign visitors
