CHAPEL OF PANAGIA GLYKOFILOUSA SKALI

This historic little church, also known as Panagia tou Skaliou or Panagia i Theotokos, is a medieval building in the old neighbourhood of Aglantzia. Originally it had been formed as a small church dug directly into the natural rock by the residents of the Byzantine settlement. At the beginning of the 20th century the present stone-built structure was built at the foot of the rock, while in 1995 extensive renovation works were carried out for the preservation of the monument. Today, the site is located beside the “Skali” cultural centre and functions as a distinctive religious and historical destination
