CHURCH OF SAINT MARINA
The historic church of Saint Marina was the religious centre of the largest homonymous quarter in the occupied small town of Kythrea. It is a traditional building of the 18th century, which was later extended and adorned with precious icon paintings and an important wood-carved iconostasis. After the events of the Turkish invasion of 1974, the church was savagely plundered and its relics were stolen, however in recent years conservation efforts are being made and rare, moving liturgies are held for the displaced residents.
