CHURCH OF SAINT GEORGE

This particular urban church is one of the three large parish churches that operated in the small town before the events of 1974. After the Turkish invasion the building was completely abandoned and fell into a state of structural collapse, with serious damage to its roof and its masonry. From time to time on-site visits are made by displaced faithful who face scenes of desolation in its interior. The monument remains without services and desecrated, being a living symbol of the cultural destruction in the area.
