CHURCH OF AGIRNKONTISSA (RUINS)

This church, also known as Panagia Airkotissa, is located in the occupied town of Lapithos in the Kyrenia district. It is a noteworthy medieval monument of the area, which took its name from the folk tradition that connects the Virgin Mary with the healing of the “aeras” or of paralysis. After the events of 1974, the church does not operate for the displaced residents and remains inactive, preserving nonetheless the long religious history of the community.
