CHURCH OF ARCHANGEL MICHAEL

This historic church is located in the old walled city and is one of the most important monuments of the Ottoman period in Nicosia. Its construction was completed in a very short period at the end of the seventeenth century, upon the ruins of an earlier medieval monastic complex. In its interior the largest and most imposing wood-carved iconostasis of the capital dominates, while the church remains to this day an extremely active and lively parish.
