CHURCH OF TRANSFIGURATION OF SAVIOUR (CHRYSOSOTIROS)

This stone-built church dominates a prominent, elevated position in the centre of the community and bears a characteristic pitched wooden roof. Its construction was completed at the beginning of the 18th century, incorporating building materials and architectural elements from an earlier structure of the area. According to local folk tradition, its entire wooden ceiling was constructed from the trunk of a single pine tree. In its interior an ornate wood-carved iconostasis stands out which is adorned with historical religious icons of that period.
