CHURCH OF PANAGIA SAINT SOZOMENOS & TOMB SAINT SOZOMENOS
This distinctive place of worship is a hewn cave-hermitage at the edge of a rise of the ruined village of Agios Sozomenos. In its interior is the tomb of the homonymous Saint, who according to tradition dug the cave himself in order to practise monasticism. The face of the rock has been closed with a white wall converting the hermitage into a church dedicated to the Panagia, while the interior walls bear remnants of medieval wall paintings. Owing to its extremely small and precipitous space, it is not suitable for the celebration of sacraments, but it functions as a historical and spiritual monument
