CHURCH OF PANAGIA CHRISOSPILIOTISSA

To the south of the village is the small chapel of Panagia Chrysospiliotissa of Byzantine style, built in 1928 and renovated in 1982 and 2000 without its architecture being altered. According to tradition, an earlier church stood at its site. Beneath the chapel caves survive where ascetics dwelt and to which they took refuge in periods of persecution, receiving food and water through small openings and a cistern for collecting rainwater.
