CHURCH OF PANAGIA MELANTRINAS (RUINS)

This historic church is the only surviving building of an old monastic complex that is located near occupied Kalograia in the Kyrenia district. The church is a single-aisled structure with a hemispherical dome and characteristic buttresses, which functioned normally as an active monastery until around 1940. After the events of 1974, the monument was savagely looted and suffered serious structural damage, with the result that the celebration of sacraments is not possible, although recently it received support works to prevent its collapse.
