CHURCH OF PANAGIA

This holy church is located in the refugee and today occupied suburban settlement of Trachonas in Nicosia. It is a building of the middle of the previous century, whose operation was violently interrupted owing to the historical events of the Turkish invasion of 1974. Since then, the church remains inaccessible to the displaced faithful, constituting a silent symbol of the refugee experience and of the religious heritage of which the lawful residents of the area are deprived.
