CHURCH OF HOLY CROSS (KOUKA)

This historic church was the katholikon of one of the oldest monasteries of Limassol, closely connected with the passage of Saint Helen through the island. It is a rare building in the shape of a free cross, whose original dome was destroyed and replaced during the Frankish period by a distinctive Gothic ribbed groin vault. In its interior historical relics with shavings from the True Cross are kept with the utmost reverence, as well as medieval frescoes of exceptional craftsmanship
