CHAPEL OF PANAGIA OF PALLOURAS
This small and plain chapel is located in the Municipality of Geri in the Nicosia district, very close to Agiou Mina Street. Its name is closely connected with Cypriot tradition, as the word “palloura” refers to the thorny bushes of the area, where in the past it was customary for holy icons to be hidden or found for protection. It is an unadorned construction, which serves mainly the daily needs for private prayer and the lighting of candles by the residents of the neighbourhood. Owing to its very limited interior space, the church is not suitable for the celebration of weddings or baptisms
