RUINS CHURCH OF SAINT GEORGE OF MACHAIROMENOS OF IN KATALIONTA

Near the abandoned settlement of Kataliontas are the ruins of the ancient church of Saint George the Machairomenos. During the Byzantine period and the years of Frankish rule, this church was a particularly renowned pilgrimage, closely connected with the numerous miracles of this local Saint. His precious and historic icon was kept for years in neighbouring Analiontas, while today it is protected at the Archbishopric.
