LIFE-GIVING SPRING

This traditional single-aisled and timber-roofed church is built in the core of the homonymous mountain village of Pitsilia, bearing a characteristic projecting apse. In the past its entire interior was covered with extensive iconography, of which today only certain fragments survive owing to later renderings with plaster. The erection of the building is placed chronologically in the transitional period between the end of the fifteenth and the beginning of the sixteenth century
