THRONI OF PANAGIA

This impressive religious and national monument is built on one of the highest mountain peaks of Troodos, very close to the historic Kykkos Monastery. In the wider arranged area a modern church with a circular shape and large mosaics dominates, while at a short distance is the tomb and the imposing statue of Archbishop Makarios the Third. The site is directly connected with old religious traditions, as the monks used to carry there the holy icon of the Panagia of the Rain in periods of severe drought.
