HOLY MONASTERY OF SAINT NAPAS

An imposing medieval monastic complex in the form of a fortified castle, which is located in the heart of the modern tourist resort. The original core of the church is rock-hewn and was formed around a natural cave where the miraculous icon of the Virgin Mary was found by a hunter. The surrounding area is adorned with high stone walls, a beautiful inner courtyard, an octagonal marble fountain and a historic sycamore tree over six hundred years old. Today the monument functions as a cultural and conference centre, while also housing a small religious museum.
