HOLY MONASTERY OF SAINT NEOPHYTOS OF ENKLEISTOU

The Holy Royal and Stavropegic Monastery of Saint Neophytos the Recluse is one of the most important religious and historical monuments of Cyprus, situated in a verdant mountain valley of Tala. It was founded at the end of the twelfth century by the Saint himself, who initially carved his hermitage into the natural rock, the well-known “Enkleistra”, creating a unique complex of caves with rare wall paintings. Today, the developed monastic complex includes the large katholikon church, attracting daily crowds of pilgrims and visitors from all over the world.
