HOLY MONASTERY OF ARCHANGEL MICHAEL

This historic church is the central church of the community of Pigi in the Famagusta district. It is a building of traditional structure of the Post-Byzantine period, which for generations was the core of the religious and social life of the residents of the village. Unfortunately, after the events of 1974, access to the church was violently interrupted owing to the Turkish occupation, with the result that the monument remains inaccessible to its displaced flock, preserving nonetheless its undimmed historical and emotional value for the community.
