HOLY MONASTERY OF SAINT AVVAKOUM

This modern monastic complex is built in an isolated mountain location of Pitsilia, right above the authentic hermitage and the tomb of Saint Habakkuk. The original church was completed during the last decade of the twentieth century, faithfully following the architectural type of the timber-roofed churches of the Troodos area. The site is an important centre of pilgrimage of the Metropolis of Tamassos, housing the holy relics of the Saint.
