HOLY MONASTERY OF PROPHET ELIJAH OF THE MARONITES MONKS

Owing to the Turkish invasion of 1974 and the occupation of the historic monastery of the Prophet Elijah in Agia Marina Skylloura, the Maronite community transferred the operation of the brotherhood to free Cyprus. The new Holy Monastery was built in the area of Agia Varvara, Nicosia, now constituting the modern spiritual, worship and administrative centre for the Maronite monks of the island.
