HOLY MONASTERY OF TROODITISSA

The Holy Monastery of Panagia Trooditissa is one of the oldest and most renowned male monasteries of Cyprus, built at an altitude of 1,370 metres within the Troodos forest. The present church, which replaced earlier buildings that were destroyed by raids and fires, is a three-aisled basilica with a sloping roof. At the site precious relics are kept, foremost among them the miraculous icon of the Mother of God and the Holy Belt, which attract thousands of faithful and childless couples who seek spiritual support
