HOLY CHURCH OF SAINT CATHERINE

This historic church is the main parish church of the community of Vyzakia and comes ecclesiastically under the Holy Metropolis of Morphou. Its erection began at the end of the 19th century using hard white stone from the adjacent river, while its impressive bell tower was added in 1925. In its interior a unique icon of Saint Catherine, considered miraculous, is housed, which was painted in the year of the church's foundation. Owing to its welcoming character, its historical importance and its central position in the village, the church is regularly used for the celebration of weddings and baptisms
