HOLY CHURCH OF SAINT ELIJAH

A traditional settlement church of deep historical significance located in the heart of the occupied village of the Famagusta district. The community maintained close ties with the Monastery of Kantara from the time of Frankish rule, functioning as its official metochi. Unfortunately, after the events of nineteen seventy-four, the building remains desecrated, ruined and entirely inaccessible for the celebration of the regular religious duties of its displaced residents. It is a silent monument of the area that carries memories of centuries and the rich ecclesiastical heritage of the Karpasia peninsula.
