HOLY CHURCH OF SAINT GEORGE

This is the main parish church of the occupied village of Goufes in the Famagusta district, built with the traditional stone of the Mesaoria area. The church was the spiritual focal point of the community until the Turkish invasion and the displacement of the residents in 1974. Today, this historic building remains mute and inaccessible in the occupied zone, having suffered looting and damage, a fact that makes the celebration of Christian sacraments impossible.
