HOLY CHURCH OF SAINT LAZARUS

This is the most important historical and religious monument of Larnaca, built above the second tomb of Saint Lazarus the four-days-dead, who served as the first Bishop of Kition. The stone church is a unique example of Byzantine church architecture with three domes, which were unfortunately destroyed during the period of the Ottoman rule and were replaced by the present roof. In its interior a wood-carved Baroque iconostasis of invaluable worth dominates, while the crypt beneath the sanctuary attracts hundreds of pilgrims daily from all over the world
