HOLY CHURCH OF SAINT NICHOLAS OF STEGIS
This emblematic church is a UNESCO World Heritage Monument and the only surviving katholikon of a Byzantine monastery in Cyprus. Its name is due to the large, pointed wooden roof with flat tiles that was added later for protection from the mountain weather conditions. Its interior is a priceless treasure, as it is entirely covered with wall paintings of exceptional craftsmanship that extend from the 11th to the 17th century.
