HOLY CHURCH OF SAINT PANTELEIMON, LOWER AKOURDALEIA

This picturesque stone-built church is located in the centre of Kato Akourdaleia and is the religious landmark of the community. The building follows the simple architectural type of the single-aisled basilica and is constructed of the characteristic traditional stone of the Paphos area. In its interior an intensely devotional atmosphere is maintained, decorated with an old iconostasis and historical icons that the residents honour with reverence. Its well-kept paved enclosure offers a quiet environment and a panoramic view towards the verdant valley and the surrounding agricultural land.
