HOLY CHURCH OF ANALIPSEOS
This large and majestic church is the central church of the occupied community of Acheritou. Its erection began in 1906 and was completed in 1923 thanks to the voluntary labour and the donations of the residents, who also funded its ornate iconostasis in full. After the Turkish invasion of 1974, the building was abandoned, looted and remained desecrated for decades, although in recent years the celebration of occasional summer liturgies for the displaced faithful has been permitted by way of exception.
