HOLY CHURCH OF APOSTLE ANDREOU SYN. FRENAROUS

This parish church was erected in the mid-eighties to meet the immediate spiritual and worship needs of the displaced families that settled in the government refugee housing estate of Frenaros after the events of 1974. Architecturally it follows the type of the single-aisled basilica, having a plain but extremely well-appointed interior space with modern iconography and a devotional wood-carved iconostasis. The church is dedicated to the First-Called Apostle Andrew, having been for decades the central point of reference, consolation and spiritual cohesion for the refugee residents of the area who carry the longing for return.
