HOLY CHURCH OF PANAGIA HEALER

On the outskirts of the community of Arakapas one encounters the religious complex of Panagia i Iamatiki, which was formerly the katholikon of a monastery. The historic original church stands out for its distinctive wooden roof and the rare interior wall paintings of Italo-Byzantine style that date from the beginning of the sixteenth century. Right beside it a larger, more recent church has been erected, which houses a leather icon of the Theotokos, unique of its kind, with healing properties
