HOLY CHURCH OF PANAGIA LYSIS
This imposing and majestic church, dedicated to Panagia Evangelistria, dominates the centre of the occupied small town of Lysi. It is an impressive architectural structure with strong Gothic elements and ornate carved bell towers, which was built with the voluntary labour and the funding of the people of Lysi themselves. After the Turkish invasion of 1974, the church was desecrated, savagely looted and deprived of its invaluable relics, remaining to this day inaccessible for the free celebration of Christian sacraments
