HOLY CHURCH OF PANAGIA OF SINTI
This emblematic and ancient monastic building is built in an isolated valley on the banks of the river Xeros, a few kilometres outside Pentalia in Paphos. The church is dedicated to Panagia tou Sinti and is one of the most important architectural monuments of the Venetian rule on the island, bearing a characteristic octagonal dome. Although the monastery was definitively abandoned in 1927, its exemplary restoration by Kykkos Monastery in the mid-1990s was awarded the international Europa Nostra prize. Today the site functions as an impressive, open museum place of pilgrimage within an environment of absolute natural serenity.
