KARDAKIOTISSA

This historic and picturesque chapel is located approximately one kilometre north-west of Alona, built beside the old path that connected the community with Nicosia. It is a small, single-aisled timber-roofed basilica that stands at the foot of a hill and functioned through the ages as a spiritual refuge for the travellers of the area. Although the original structure suffered total destruction from a large fire in 1987, the church was fully rebuilt and restored with respect for its original form. Owing to its very limited dimensions, the space does not lend itself to sacraments, but it is a very beautiful mountain attraction
