MEDIEVAL CHAPEL OF SAINT GEORGE

This small medieval chapel is located at the important archaeological site of Agios Georgios in Peyia, very close to the coastline. The stone building preserves authentic elements of the Byzantine church construction of the period, being an integral part of the historic complex of the area. Owing to its limited dimensions and the protected character of the site, it functions mainly as a monument and a stop for private pilgrimage, offering an atmosphere of deep historical devotion beside the waves.
