TRANSFIGURATION OF SAVIOUR

This central and historic church dominates the community of Akaki in the Nicosia district, coming under the Holy Metropolis of Morphou. It is one of the principal places of worship of the village, gathering crowds of faithful both at the daily services and during the great religious feasts. The church holds its festival with particular splendour every year on the sixth of August, attracting pilgrims from across the wider area. Thanks to its comfortable spaces and its traditional atmosphere, it is regularly used for the celebration of weddings and baptisms of the community
