MIKRO CHAPEL OF SAINT BARBARA

This is the original, smaller shrine that was built immediately after the Turkish invasion to serve the immediate religious needs of the displaced in the refugee housing estate of Paralimni. Its structure began as a simple, single-aisled basilica with a saddle roof, while in due course it was extended with the addition of a second aisle on its southern side in order to accommodate more faithful. Today, this devotional little church is located within the same enclosure, right beside the newer and much larger homonymous church, preserving unaltered its historical and emotional value.
