MONASTERY OF HOLY FORERUNNER (RUINS OF MONASTERY)

This historic monument comprises the ruined remains of the old Holy Monastery of the Holy Forerunner, which is located in the community of Koili in the Paphos district. The monastery suffered irreparable damage and was completely deserted after the destructive earthquake that struck the entire district in 1953. Today only rubble from the stonework of the church survives, which testifies to the medieval monastic presence and the religious activity of the area. Owing to its complete collapse, the site lacks a functional roof or capacity, constituting exclusively a quiet archaeological stop for walkers and visitors.
