PALAIOCHRISTIANIKI BASILICA OF SAINT TYCHONOS (RUINS)
This important archaeological site is located outside the eastern walls of ancient Amathus and is the oldest Christian place of worship on the island. The original monument is directly connected with Saint Tychon himself, while subsequently it was extended into a cemetery basilica of large dimensions where eminent religious figures were buried, such as Saint John the Merciful. Today only the stone foundations and the bases of the church survive, which is strictly protected by the Department of Antiquities
