PANAGIA GALAKTOTROFOUSA

This small little church is built upon a hill at the entrance of the community and is surrounded by the local cemetery. Beneath the church an ancient catacomb survives in which the holy icon of the Theotokos was found, as well as a spring with sanctified water that is channelled into a special cistern. Tradition relates that this underground refuge served as a secret place of worship for the faithful during the period of Ottoman rule.
