CHAPEL OF SAINT MARINA

The small Chapel of Saint Marina is hidden among tall eucalyptus trees in Kato Deftera, at a very short distance from the Pedieos river. According to historical sources, at exactly the same spot an earlier church previously existed which was completely demolished during the period of Ottoman rule. During excavations that were carried out subsequently, the original foundations of the historic building were found at a depth of three metres, a fact that led to the rebuilding of the present place of pilgrimage
