YPATI

This historic monastic chapel is nestled on the northern slopes of the Pentadaktylos mountain range, on the boundaries of the occupied village of Agios Amvrosios in the Kyrenia district. It is a Byzantine building of the 12th century, which received later architectural additions during the period of Frankish rule. Since 1974, after the violent expulsion of the residents of the area owing to the Turkish invasion, the church remains desecrated, without the possibility of celebrating services and inaccessible to its faithful.
