HOLY MONASTERY OF SAINT GEORGE

The Monastery was plundered several times and destroyed by the Ottomans. According to testimonies, it was rebuilt in the 20th century. During your visit, you will find that the monastery includes a chapel of the Holy New Martyr George of Cyprus, of Saint Marina, an underground chapel of the Holy Fathers of Optina and the cave of Saint Mary of Egypt. The male monks take care of the monastery daily and can guide you and tell you the history of the monastery. Before leaving the site, visit the monastery's bookstore.
