CHAPEL OF THE VIRGIN MOTHER

The small Chapel dedicated to the Virgin Mary is located near the main Church of the Community. It is worth visiting to worship and take Holy Water with you. Tradition says that the Queen was bleeding and sat down to rest on the rock where she found that the bleeding had stopped and asked her companions to lead her to a nearby spring to be cleansed. They accompanied her to a spring in the village of Avdellero where she was able to wash herself with clean water from the spring. Years later, a shepherd found the recess in the rock with the spring as well as the icon of the Virgin Mary, which was lost the next day and was found again at the location of the spring. There they realized that the water was holy.
